As the title, what's the best graphics card around the £100 price point (+/-£30). It's to replace a GeForce 3 I bought way back when they cost £250. :)

Will it handle HL2/Doom3 at a reasonable lick at (at least) minimum settings? Have endured all the judder I can stand!

What are the rest of your specs?

Anyway, to answer your question, it depends on whether you're willing to go second hand or not. You can expect to get a card between a GeForce 6600 GT to a 6800 GS at that price point, I'd guess. Perhaps better if you go second hand. Any card at this level of performance will be a massive upgrade over your current card. Provided that the rest of your setup is up to scratch, you can expect to play Half Life 2 at high settings and nice framerates easy.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. Finally got a job and a bit of cash coming in, have just bought an AMD 3000+ Venice, Asrock MB and upgraded to 1Gb of DDR (and a couple of SATA HDDs). Just waiting on a PSU at the moment that can power it all :)

I'd definitely prefer NVidia uber alle for Linux driver support. Thanks for your suggestion, definitely prefer to buy new.
