best graphics card for £400?

Likely never I am afraid, I think it is generally thought it does not give a ROI, but its not a set in concrete decision but it does look unlikely to re-open I am afraid.

I think a lot of companies are reconsidering the need to rent space for people when most things can be done remotely.

£350 for a RX 6600 is just about the best deal I can think of on the price-performance curve that's actually available at the moment.

Well lined up @Gibbo .
Hey Ive got a question I ordered a 3050 oc from zotac from overclockers from £340. It oversold and I've been waiting for the shipment to come through. I still think it was a good deal in the current market but everyone says i should have spent £100 more and got the 6600. Now the 6600 is £350 on overclockers this seems like a better deal as there pretty much the same price. So it makes sense for me to cancel my order and use the money to order a 6600 as its better and will probably come sooner then the 3050. I assume the 6600 is a better card then the 3050 even with dlss and ray tracing. I also use PCI 3.0 not 4.0 so. Also if i cancel the order would I get the money back in time for this sale. Or could I swap the product out for a different one, and pay the small difference of £10-£20. Whats the best course of action here?

RX 6600 is a considerably faster card than the RTX 3050, until you bring in ray tracing. In games that support ray tracing a RTX 3050 can outperform a RX 6600, especially if you also bring DLSS into the picture and is also dependent on what ray tracing features you enable.

For rasterisation, the RX 6600 is considerably faster.

For a RX 6600 and an RTX 3050 at about the same price, I would take the former.

6600 seems a fair bit stronger overall. I think RT is a moot point at this level & as good as DLSS is, it's just upscaling. FSR is good enough & widely supported, as well as games own in-engine solutions. So yes, in your shoes, I'd cancel, get gaming sooner on a faster card & not think about it again, just enjoy your games.

Okay so for 60fps 1080p gaming which one is better for £350, like i assume the 3050 isn't gonna be a card many people use for ray tracing but does that make it more future proof or?.
I also use a PCI 3.0 I've heard amd cards are bottlenecked on pcie 3. Which one would you buy if you had to?

Does overclockers allow the exchange of items if the item hasn't been shipped yet. e.g my 3050 that is coming with the next shipment. As i assume the 6600 is a better card.
?

A RX 6600 isn't bottlenecked on PCIe 3.0 like the RX 6500 is because of its X4 PCIe bus. The issue isn't with all AMD cards.

I finished editing the previous post after you replied. This is a nuanced issue and there isn't a straightforward answer for 1080p 60 FPS gaming. It depends what game you're running, and what settings you're running - but in most instances the RX 6600 is faster.

I usually play destiny 2, halo infinite and I want to play cyberpunk this year.

Cyberpunk is the only one of those where ray-tracing is relevant. You can see the Cyberpunk benchmark results in the Ray Tracing section of the review I posted.
yes but would I even be running ray tracing on cyberpunk with a 3050 probably not I assume? Is dlss gonna matter at all here

With those results, I would be. But I don't get twitchy if I drop below 60fps and would rather prioritise visual effects over frame rate. You may be different. It's your decision.

ill probably go for the 6600 if I can exchange that's the only way i could afford it

Nervous Mel here - built an MSI Ryzen 5 3600 pc with the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk mb last year (or was it the end of 2020)?? Happy with it but I retained my old RX 570 graphics board as prices were SILLY!

I was going to wait to upgrade but the offer above "Sapphire Radeon RX 6600 Pulse Gaming 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card @ £349.99 inc VAT" seemed pretty good SO without doing a lot of research - I have just bought it! Have I done the right thing in terms of value for money? I could have spent days looking at options but - jumped!

Mel

If you have the patience with stock alerts then then a 3060ti FE for £369 is by far the best GPU for that price point.

Thanks Guys - feel better - guess I'll not regret it! There is ALWAYS someting a bit better for a bit more ...........
