Best GTA on PS2

Vice City, for sure!

Loved GTA III, loved SA, but Vice just had it all, great gameplay, great theme, great story, and being set in the Miami Vice era & locale, can only be a good thing!

One of the best PS2 games and best games ever in my mind!

I'm in two minds here. VC had the best setting, characters and music. But SA had much more stuff in it which makes it more fun to just mess around in.

In terms of dicking about, I spent months purely dicking around in VC In SA I think I stopped playing the game shortly after I completed the story.

VC for me as well. III was good but missing a few handy features which make the game much easier to play. SA had too much crap like having to eat. The last few missions were a real letdown as well. VC was the perfect medium. It still has it's flaws like not being able to swim, but hey ho :)

i love 3, got it the day it came out and spent months playing it. Far superior to VC IMO. I just didn't take to VC.
San Andreas is quite good too if you want to spent a lot of time traveling around.

Yeah i hated the food thing, really hope they get rid of it in GTA IV
Yeah that's one feature of SA that I think really was a mistake. Although it was quite funny just pigging out to see how fat you could make your character and how many times they would vomit.

Yup, the whole eating/excercise thing in SA was nothing but a chore.

VC was the best game but I'll never forget being introduced to III and just realising the scale of it all.

What do you see as being the best GTA on the PS2, in terms of storyline and gameplay? III, VC or SA?

I prefered SA, much more varied missions. However the crap with eating, working out and picking up your girlfriend gets boring fast!

More motorbikes, faster cars, 747, helicopters, jet planes, bicycles, you can have up to 4 members follow you around (I think) as a gang.

For sheer variety of things to do that are not part of the main storyline it wins.

SA, purely for being able to drive around with 3/4 members in your car, who proceed to shoot everything, great fun :D Enjoyed the huge variety of missions available for the game, including the destruction derbys :)

I guess I'm one of the few people here that thought SA was far superior (EDIT: Or not. That'll teach me for leving the reply window open so long). VC was a load of fun, no doubt, but I guess I just didn't fall for the whole "THE 80'S!" schtick like everybody else.

I just loved the massive size and free scope of SA. I could muck about practising bike tricks, or find secret jumps with cars, or go dogfighting in jet planes. I once road for ages on the bike just seeing where I could go, for the hell of it. I went on a massive ride and never once hit the edge of the world like it was so easy to do in VC.

Oh, and no drowning in an inch of water was an improvement too.

I prefered the era/area of GTA III, but enjoyed SA more, due to there being so much stuff to do.

If you had GTA: SA with the style of GTA III it would be awesome.

I cant decide on VC or SA, I finished VC and enjoyed the story line and the music was great. San andreas i just got so far into the game and stopped playing the story lines or missions i used to just mess about all the time, i eventually finished though. Not sure if i got bored of the storylines or just found so much to do in it, there was probably to much in that game. I rememeber cheating and getting Brown Thunder a bit early and causing untold destruction to the other gangs and the police, great fun. Overall as a game I think i had more fun with SA,I think VC had a better story but SA was a better game.

Vice city. I loved the area and the era.

I hated the "Gangster" theme on SA. Also parts felt rushed like the second city.
