Best hard drive for Linux?

Need to get a new drive as no space on my existing ones to set up a partition, as I want to set up Linux to install a couple of 3D design progs.

Looking for hard drive recommendations. Been a while since I bought a drive, so just wondering what's good at the moment, and if that fact I'm putting Linux on it should influence my decision? Thanks... :)

A drive's a drive really, the OS used doesn't really influence the choice.

Depending on your budget and space requirements I'd be looking at the WD 6400AAKS, the Seagate 320Gb 7200.11 or possibly the Samsung 1Tb F1 although there are a few threads on here about problems with the F1.

On the other hand if space and ultimate speed aren't necessary the 250Gb Seagate 7200.10 is on special at the moment. It's still very quick and at less than £30 it's a real bargain.

That WD 6400AAKS seems a very good deal given it's got such a large capacity (640GB). Too good to be true, or is it a solid drive?
