Best Hard Drive

What's the "best" 3.5" sata 7200rpm hard drive around at the moment? Quietness and speed being the most desirable traits.

Western Digital Black?

Samsung F1?

Samsung are cheaper here, I like mine seem quiet but i do have a antec 1200 so might jsut be quiet under all them fans

Yeah the F1's are pretty quiet and give decent speeds too.

Samsung F1
WD Black
Hitachi 7K1000.B
Seagate 7200.12

All are quite good.

My F1 is quiet and fast. Can't comment on the others.

Surely either the black or the F1 is better though? From reviews it seems they are equally quiet but the black faster- is that actually the way it is?

Right, gearing up for a purchase - can get Samsung F1 for £70 or Western digital black for £88ish.

Which one to go for?! :confused:

Have just seen that the F1 is in the TWO now so even better value than usual - I'd say take the F1

I have a WD Green Power that is the most quiet HD I have ever owned, besides my ssd of course. I can't even hear the WD with the side panel on, and can only faintly hear it with it off. Until I took my side panel off, I thought it was completely silent.
