Hey,
i have a workstation that i use for Maya/Houdini and some gaming. At the moment i use a 200gb drive for OS and a 500gb for data/storage.

I want to improve the performance of the computer and i assume adding a raid0 or ssd to the mix could help.

id like to spend about 100, and i was looking at the 320gb F1 for raid0 or a vertex 32gb ssd. Id like more than 32gb space but if the performance is better than ill go for ssd. I do mostly rendering work and caching files to disk for simulation tests (hundreds of ~10mb files).

Im leaning a little more towards the F1's in raid0 at the moment, what do you guys think?

F1's are really fast, single platter drives (320g) I would personally buy one, or 2 of those at the moment as to me, SSD is just way too expensive for what is a relatively small speed increase

Whats the difference between the Samsung F1 320gb, and the Samsung F1 Raid Class 320gb?

Do they have similar speeds? For the price i could buy 3 F1 320gb and have raid5 over a raid0 for the Raid class drives, whats better?

EDIT:
Looking around i spotted the WD Caviar Black 640gb. I have a WD WD640 SE16 blue and im happy with it. The performance looks on par with the samsung F1's and then i get over 1tb of extra storage, then i could put these in raid0.
