Hey everyone I'm looking to upgrade my PS3 HDD but I'm unsure on what to get.

I want to stick with a 5400rpm drive and stay away from WD as the head parking "click" drives me nuts.

I'm looking at this but unsure as the seek time is 0.14 instead of 0.12 like on most. Also i have heard some horror storys about Seagates lately, does anyone know if any problems have plagued these drives specifically?

It was the 7200.11s that had the issue, I don't think any 5400RPM drives were affected.

But yeah, that looks good. I had a Seagate in my Dell Studio 15, and although the laptop itself was a bag of nuts the drive was fine. :)

The PS3 HD chamber has minimal cooling if any, I would stick to 5400rpm drives.
I suggest WD, no more seagate for me unless your talking 15k SAS drives.

yeh do not buy a 7200rpm dive my ffriend works at sony and says it will over heat etc retc FAIL you can pick up a 320Gb WD drive 5400rpm for under 50£ bargin!!!

I've got a second Samsung MLC drive coming tomorrow, quite tempted to stick it in my ps3 till the weekend, just to see

That would be good to see, assuming it fits.

There was an article about with regards to 5400RPM vs 7200RPM drives in a PS3, with next to no difference in speeds. As 7200 drives generate more heat, I would personally stick to 5400.

You can get a 320Gb Seagate Momentus 5400.5 drive for £50 from a well known retailer, which is likely the sweet spot when it comes to value. I personally would stick with Seagate Momentus drives regardless, as that's what my PS3 uses at the moment.

I had a 7200.2 rpm drive in mine, it was definitely faster than the original drive, especially installing demos etc.

I bought it from the seagate recondition ebay store, and has been working fine for 1/5 of the retail cost
