I just wanted to ask what you thought about the 2 head sets?

I was told, the best of both worlds is the Valve Index controllers combined with the Vive Pro 2 headset?

Also, how much does the GPU help towards the VR experience. I ordered the 6900xt during black friday, but am very tempted to try and get a 7900XTX next week if possible?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

BTW I have and Index and a Quest 2 and both get used for different use cases. Sims and high detail PC games for the Index and wireless stand alone and PC streamed games for the Quest 2.
Would you say in terms of resolution, is the Vive Pro 2 the one to get if you want the best overall experience?

I think I'll go with the index controllers with the Vive Pro 2 headset as I would like to have the best visual experience. It would be nice to try them both to find out which one feels/works the best. I'm surprised that there isn't a clear contender at the moment.

I have read of people who have Vive Pros or Reverb G2s selling them when they get Quest Pros because the visuals are so much clearer. The resolution isn't hugely greater but the lens clarity and colours and contrast are massively better. Plus the Quest Pro controllers track as well as the Index ones.

I would say the Index controllers aren't as amazing as many people say as a lot of content doesn't really take advantage of them and the grip mechanism can be very finicky on lots of games.

The Quest controllers are in practice almost as good.
Sounds great.. but anything Facebook/Meta related is an immediate dislike to me tbh.

I find it impossible to justify spending £682 on a two year old G2. Yes the resolution is great but the lenses are rubbish with a tiny sweet spot and the cable although improved is still causing issues.

It's crazy how little VR headsets have actually improved. My Rift S is yet to be replaced and I have no idea when it will. I'm only interested in PCVR and there is nothing concrete on the horizon.
I think it's the Vive Pro 2 for me.. I'm new to PCVR and want to enter @ the top end.

Index controllers aren't massively better than the Quest 2 controllers in actual use, let alone Quest Pro controllers.

The finger tracking on the Index is nice but hardly any games use it, and the grip mechanic and pressure sensor tend to be frustrating in lots of games, as you accidentally drop or grab things. Not many games get this right. The grip button on the Quest controllers works better and provides better feedback.

Also the button and stick layout isn't comfortable for me without adding 3D printed grip boosters. The hand strap is nice, but you can get third party ones for Quest controllers.

I've even seen reports that the Quest Pro controllers are better than the new PSVR 2 controllers.

Let's face it, basestation tracking is now a dead-end technology and most headsets are now going for inside out tracking. Even Valve Deckard is rumoured to use inside out tracking.
Let's face it.. at the moment the state of PCVR gaming is a mixed bag of proprietary technologies which are still, dare I say, just shy of a beta project.

I think, give it another year or so, it should be the golden age of PCVR gaming? That's just a guess, but it's the general feeling I get because no one can really agree at the moment which is the VR set is the one to get.

I'm just trying to get the best possible experience with first person shooters and FPV SIM games.

I agree, wireless headsets are the future with inside out tracking and removal of base stations..

But as it's been mentioned, battery life isn't quite there yet.
