Best headunit for £200?

P55BT is a classy looking HU in the way that its simple, and not garish in the slightest. Best £160 i've ever spent for a car accessory IMO.

Garish looking unit IMO, and none of the benefits of buying new.

Yeah, that wonderful chav undercar neon blue of the 77 looks brilliant

You misunderstand the word garish methinks.

...No blue at all  You must be thinking of another one :)

Brushed alu and great sound. Winning combo ;)

Horses for corses in my opinion. I love the simplicity of the 55 but a friend of mine said to me "Why didn't you get the ones with the dolphins" personally I could think of nothing more annoying but obviously some people must like to look down and see flipper in bright neon blue rather than the radio station they are listening too blending in with the colour of the dash :p

EDIT- After seeing the above pic I got it mixed up. I was thinking of the other bluetooth pioneer unit :o

Take a look at some Blaupunkt units too. They're excellent. :)
I.e.

The 77MP is one of the best sounding head units around.

Just bought one of these myself. Very good HU. Menu system is awesome, got it hooked up to my standard rover speakers and tweeters and a Vibe CBR EVO10 :) Very good sound. Screen is also very good with full graphic display. Any questions welcome. Has usb input and sd/mmc card reader behind the panel.

i've had a couple of blaupunkts in the past and i've always had issues with them picking up electrical interferance of the engine, sounded great when the engine was off though :)

Do you suffer from interferance on yours? or is it fine?

How fast does it search an external hard disk?

I love this, looks the best unit on the market and the features are good too. I think its discontinued but you can get one off eBay.

Recently got this covered, after writing off my car it has inherited a tiny scratch - although I haven't tested it yet.

Hoping to install in new car

I've used it a lot since I bought it back about a month ago. Never heard any kind of feedback from the engine.

Am guessing you are thinking of the P70BT or P77BT units? Which yes do look too over the top for my liking.

The 77mp however are great, I've had 2 so far and still have a spare faceplate somewhere (one got stolen by the scrappy who recovered my old car but they didn't have the faceplate :) ).

Paid £120 for the second one I bought, found an ebay auction where a guy in my town was selling one :)

Yup, just check your policy documents and see how much your covered up to as standard for audio equipment. I think mines up to £750 but I'm not certain.
Ah, good point. I remember ~£750 is the max.

Neil.

I've got a 77mp too, in the mini at the mo. The unit transformed the sound and has lovely punchy bass and clarity. Having 6x9's does help though (even if they are the standard ones)

I'm sure any top end pioneer would sound really good...and alpines are highly rated for sound quality too.

edit: I lost my surround bit when moving it from my previous car  , I'm sure my mum threw it away thinking it was something unimportant....damn it.
