Hi,

I am after a NAS drive for home use.

I need to it do continuous back ups of a few iPhones in the household. General PC aback up and a surveillance system.

I ideally want a agnolotti but don’t know if I need 2,4,5 drives. Can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks

I'd go for an Asustor Nimbustor 2 or 4 or the newer Lockerstor 2 or 4, depending on the number of drives required. These two ranges have better CPUs than most others at the same price point. I have a Nimbustor 4 alongside a Synology NAS so I know it works...
The only proviso is I know nothing about backing up iPhones so you'd have to check that an app is available for that.

The number of drives required depends on the amount of storage you think you'll need. With two drives, you'll use RAID 1 so you'll get the capacity of just one drive; I'd recommend RAID 10 with four drives so you get the total capacity of two of them.

And why do you want it to be a type of pasta?

Had to google that and was

Assume he meant Synology.

Out of interest why an Asustor over Synology? For his use I'd have thought a Synology would be ideal but not used an Asustor.

Regarding the number of drives it really depends on budget. I'm using a Synology ds220+ which is a 2 drive unit and is more than enough for my needs which are similar to yours.
