Have you got pass plus? If so take 10% off that Chuchill quote, so it would become about £1450.

That's me told then!! :)

edit:
Just ran a quite through with them as I;d never heard of them to see if they'd be useful for me to remember come renewal. I currently pay £650PA with Norwich Union (aged 22, 2 yrs NCB, 2.5 Ghia X Mondeo fully comp).

they wanted £1400. Ouch.

IMO NUD are great for new drivers, no one else would touch me and the scooby as my first car, other than elephant who quoted 11k+!!!
With passplus my monthly payments went from £500+ to £350, and now £250 with a years NCD too. S'all good :D

Admiral seem to be good for me - they've quoted me happy with the cheapest renewal for my cavalier at just over £400 - business use, and 25,000 miles PA, 3rd party f+t.

Just out of interest, put in a fully comp quote for a Nissan 200sx, with business use, and 25,000 miles. Only £630! (I'm 21, with soon-to-be 4 years NCB). Go Admiral!

Indeed, isn't the 2.0 n/a subaru lump only 115bhp or something - pretty poor, especially from a marque who we associate with being on the sporty side.

He's paying about 4 times more than you should just because your car has a subaru badge on it imho.

Its a 123bhp 2.0. 0-60 in 9.9 with a top speed of 119mph. So yes even your old 2.0 Mondeo is faster...

Why do you all think speed is everything, plus it's on rapid acceleration bonus so it's more money.

mine's 135bhp on Powerstation rollers, easily quicker than 9.9 to 60 consider what a Mini Cooper is meant to be 9 something.. and I own my brothers tuned one all the time?

Yup no question about it :D:D

Ok probably the 2.0 Focus Zetec ESP handles just as well, i got a quote for that for less then £2k at 17. I would have personally got other cars that were much cheaper to get NCB, then go for a proper Scooby when insurance allows. But then again i dont like Suburu's.

but a focus would never look/sound as good ;)

There is a difference between spending a lot in order to have a nice car, and just plain getting ripped off.

Guess which i'd put you in :p You simply MUST be able to insure a 2.0 4-pot saloon for less than that amount, that is utterly crazy money.

I am not interested enough to look up insurance for your situation, its obvious what i think of the decision to buy a car which costs that to insure which is just a bog standard saloon car just like all the others which would have cost half this.

Oh well :) I waste lots of money on other things so if it makes you happy, a lot of people would critisize me for wasting thousands on home cinema stuff.

You maybe live in a bit of a high risk location?

Summary of your demands and needs
Policy Type: Comprehensive
Cover start date: 07 Apr 2006
Cover end date: 06 Apr 2007
Windscreen excess: £60
NCD years: None
Vehicle excess: £320

12 months, no NCB, done as aged 17. 10k miles per year.

£2986.99 for a 12 month policy with Norwich Union. Still a rip off imho, but a 25% (and more, given the extra 2 months) saving on what you pay.

edit: age to 18 and 1 yr NCD, the rest same as above, gives £1335.99 for 12 months - much more reasonable.
