Best KODI TV box (fire tv, android box, chromebox)

Im looking for the best option for me without breaking the bank (Fire tv price)

1, run kodi, (watch movies and music from usb)
2, steam, videos youtube, iplayer, support upto 4k for for future.
3, add extra addons, netflix, skygo, free view
4. steam movies backed up pc

ive see Chinese android boxes on ebay, but I don't think they will be what they say on the box or as good as we hope

a few people i know have said android mx3 and ive though of the fire tv

I dont think you can play stuff from USB on the fireTV, but dont take my word for it.

how hard would it be too root and would it work better then a R PI 2 or a cheap andriod box like mx3

I've used a few devices, and have to say that the RPi is fantastic bang for buck when it comes to Kodi (Original 256mb version was a bit pants, newer ones are fine). Although there are some bits that don't work on RPi which work on other devices fine, I had trouble using community builds for example.

Adding a VPN is also a bit more difficult....

I also have a quad-core generic chinese android box thing. It works fine, although doesn't seem quite as slick as the RPi. This might be because it has quite a bit loaded on and is difficult to mod for your own uses.
