Best Laptop Sub £500

I've been wanting a MBP for ages and have finally realised that they are too overpriced for what they are so I'm looking at getting a Laptop.

I've got up to £500 to spend

I want something that will be able to perform well, last a long time, it will have 1 or 2 games on it but I will use my desktop pc for gaming. I will be using it to take with my to friends, holidays etc but idealy I want a 15" screen.

I've had a look around but have no idea what's good and what's not.

I bought an Acer 5471z last year, does everything I need it to, don't really use it for gaming though. Can be had for around £330 mark now if you shop about.

If you want something with a higher spec, and price, then how about something like the Samsung r730, it's got a 17" screen though so it'll be a bit heavier, price is about £480.
