In your opinions what is the best live cd out there?

SO far I have tried the Slax and that is pretty good. Am looking at getting the Ubuntu version.

I am looking at using LiveCD's a lot more as I am starting to use Linux more than windows now as it has something that Windows lacks - POWER!

In my experience they all are good. I think with Linux you need to find out exactly want you want and find the distro that does that best. e.g. low spec = puppy, XP replacement = Mint, etc.

Well here I go again:

Arch Linux has no official LiveCD!

Most Linux distros are based on i386, in other words they are compiled without optimisations (not Arch Linux). So in that regard Linux will indeed run slower. However in Linux you have more control over what is installed, so you can make it more lightweight.

So in my opinion you should start with a simple LiveCD distro, ie Ubuntu (unless you are already similar with Linux), then move on to say Arch Linux and install that on your HDD. Then you will truly be a force to be reckoned with.

Knoppix has a special place in my heart as I started using Linux with it.

Recently I've used Sabayon and Kanotix and really liked them both, however I'm slowly being conveted to Kubuntu now.

I really liked the DSL Live CD, it ran amazingly on a bad setup.

I like the Ubuntu Live CD also because it is really well featured, and it runs at a tolerable speed on decent systems.

Im using ubuntu live just now. runs as if i have it installed. its amazing.

Can you tell I just tried it for the first time :D

Has anyone here tried Puppy? It's bloomin marvelous, a proper fully functioning desktop that can be installed on a usb flash drive. I can't believe how teensy but good it is (typing this now using it).
I'm only using a spare 512mb pen drive, and I've still got 400mb storage left. A pc on your keyring, amazing. It's quiet a pretty little thing too.

Got mine all working, must say i like ubuntu. had fun fixing my xorg config after i broke it lol.

Now trying to get compiz or beryl working on a ati 1950xtx. getting there so far. not to bad for a nooby :p

so for me ubuntu best live cd by far, even better installed.
