Canon or Brother based on my experience. Unless you're spending a lot on a HP, then they can be OK too. All the Epson printers I've used were not so great.
Epson + genuine ink for me cheapies never quite look 'right'
Although we've got a Canon all-in-one at the minute and I hate it with a passion lol
Epson printers are relatively cheap to buy and the cost of the ink isn't THAT bad IMHO as you get quite a bit cartridge...
But remember that if you DO use cheapo compatible ink in there, if will void the warranty on the printer
(not sure about other makes but that's the case with Epson)
