Best memory choice for bad axe / Conroe E6600

Well if it can't do that then it's grounds for RMA.

So either way it's win win win.

I had a set of Team Xtreem PC2-6400 CAS3 which is likely to be the same Micron D9GMH chips as yours.

I ran 3-3-3-8 @ 2.2v for about a year on a D975XBX before I moved to P35 and was rewarded with 1200Mhz+ at CAS5. The 975x chipset isn't one of the best with high frequency, but it should handle these tight timings ok.

What motherboard have you got? Try bumping the northbridge voltage a step and see if it helps.

funnily enough a D975XBX :D

Well it's ran 45 passes of Memtest86+ v 2.01 now @ 3-4-3-8 for 21 hrs. think I can safely say there's nothing wrong with it..
Ideally need to get the system back together now as I can't find anything wrong with the HDD's either.
Hopefully it isn't the Enermax liberty or the badaxe.. although there's no real way to find out I guess.
