Magnets don't stick to aluminium though...

Demciflex filters come with a self adhesive magnetic ring which you stick to the case. The magnetic filter then sticks to this. I have one on the wifes pc and it works a treat.

Indeed. I have mounted the magnets on the inside of the case and and the mesh on the outside for a cleaner look. Or all on the inside for super stealth. They really are very good.

If its difficult fitting filters up top but ok at the front you could just use fan control software to speed up your intake fans a little to keep positive pressure so the only air coming in is going through the filter at the front.

Back in the early days, people just used to wrap a pair of tights around the fans.

That's gold right there.

I did the old tights trick on the wifes old case and it worked a treat. The box that I have my radiators in is filtered by a very fine net curtain which I thought was just a odd bit left over when I found it in the linen cupboard. I later found out that it wasn't a odd bit left over. SWMBO was not best pleased!! It does a brilliant job of keeping dust and beasties out though.
