Whats the best out there for gaming? I'm in need for a new board but after having a look on the net, all the posts seems to be at least 3-4 years old.

Any suggestions?

Best? It will be hard to say as most differences will be so small that you won't notice, you're looking at maybe 0,5 -1% tops difference in performance over different motherboards...

Not sure about matx with intel but AMD nowadays OCs about same on every crappy mobo, even the ones for 60quid so anything with decent chipset ( 780/785/790/880/890 ) for AMD will probably be great : ).

Hmm i've been offered a 760G gigabyte board for about £55, it'll be a replacement for my current Asus 785G board. Uses the same SB710 though.

What do you think? If performance is neglible then its fine i dont mind, i dont plan on overclocking again anyway.

I'm avoiding Asus for now, my current board is an Asus and its having problems with the PCI-e x16 slot underpowering.

Hmmm, can't just RMA the problem board? Can't say i've had a problem with mine.

Asus are generally fine, 1 bad board isn't really a good reason to avoid all Asus products. I'm sure there have been just as many faulty Gigabyte boards as Asus. :p

I know its no excuse but its definitely a perfectly good excuse to try out another brand of boards :P.

The MSI one is defo pulling my attention, i like the fact it can run crossfire even if it does only run at x8 using both lanes.

You wont do better on uATX, they all run 8x/8x.

The one exception is the uATX S1366 boards.

However the MSI one is the only one to nativly support SATA3 and the SB850 has better lane division for supporting the USB3.

Can i just ask while we're on the topic of chipsets, whats the 760G chipset like? Is it good for high end components? I have a Phenom II x4 955 BE and a HIS 5870 to plug into it, will it support it and run it smoothly?

760G boards are usually limited to 95W CPUs, the 955 BEs are 125W (unless you can find a 95W version from somewhere, but I don't think anywhere in the UK sells them).
