Best Microsoft/X Box Controller Set Up for PC

Good Evening/Morning/Afternoon everyone,

Can someone give me some advice on the best set up for an X Box Controller for a PC please?

I currently have Windows 10 installed and my 360 Wireless Pad is starting to fail.

I have tried to find some clarity but it all gets a bit jumbled after a while. I don't mind purchasing the wireless receiver which seems to be the route to go...but if someone could just point me in the direction of the best type of X Box Pad that would be great.

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed ad nauseam.

Managed to buy an Xbox Elite pad V1 + Wireless Receiver from the MM.

Works flawlessly, and I absolutely love the Elite.
Didn't realise but it comes with heavier duty motors than the normal pad and it just enhances the experience more.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Forza Horizon 4 really makes great use of vibration feedback for example.

Took me a while but once you get used to the rear paddles, you'll never want to go back.

A tip I read to save wear on the sticks and better ease of use, is to set a profile to have both front paddles set to the left and right click, works a treat.

However, the elite pad is a bit pricey for my liking, which model is the next one down?

Also are play and charge kits still a thing and are the compatible with PC usage?

Next one down would the one used in the latest Xbox console, I would guess.

I believe play and charge kits are still used, but I just bought a dedicated charger and two batteries for my Elite and they are excellent.

They are rated at 2800Mah whereas the P&C kits are only 1400Mah, and you only get one battery at a bit more cost than the kit I bought.
I discounted it quite early on in my search for decent batteries.

Bearing in mind the Elite's heavier duty motors which obviously use more power, I'm only having to swap batteries around once a week, which is phenomenal.

The Nintendo Switch Pro controller is amazing and, apparently you can use that really easily with a PC. The battery lasts for weeks!
