The Samsungs get good reviews (the ones with the blue light behind the power button).

Personally I'd recommend a 24"... 22" are the same height as a 19" which sucks a bit :(

I presume you mean a 19" 4:3 screen? And doesn't the three and half inch of extra width count for anything?

On your basis you might as well get a 21" 4:3 screen cause they are the same height as a 24" widescreen which sucks a bit :p

If you can find a second hand NEC 20WGX2 (like I did for £120 :D) then it's a great screen (S-IPS panel) and no ghosting at all - better than the 2ms 22" TN screens by Samsung. However, the NEC is very expensive new (over £300) for a 20" screen but you get what you pay for IMO

The Dell 2007WFP is a very good screen and can be found for under £200 if you hunt around.

The Samsung SM226BW is highly regarded in the 22" sector. In the 20" range I'd look at the Dell 2007WFP or better still, the NEC 20WGX2.

By the way Baddass, my one year old £120 NEC 20WGX2 was perfect. Even the lazy/dead pixel turned out to be something stuck to the screen!

And with the profiles downloaded from your website, I now have it set up perfect

Many thanks for all your help.

From a pure gaming point of view the samsung all the way i got a dell 20" downstairs and the colours are much better VA etc.But when i boot cod2 up in dx7 and want 500 plus fps the samsung puts the dell in its place much better fps gaming on the samsung. (226bw) And btw i got a A panel and i am speaking
from a pure gaming point of view .If its a all rounder then i would have to say the dell.

No way crt is the only way for gaming get a 19" viewsonic crt £138 delivered
and then save for a 24 wide for movies browsing etc.Btw everyone that recommends the 226bw either has an S or A don't see anyone recommending that got the crappy C Cmo panels.

Jesus, do you ever stop going on about how good CRT's are. In this day and age, TFT is the way forward, they good and perform well.

He's asking which is the best monitor for gaming and in my view a crt monitor is.Maybe he doesn't know that you can still buy good brand new crt monitors quite cheaply most people think only ebay is the place to get them.
