Best monitor for graphics/gaming?

Title, I bought a TN panel and regret it as it is ridiculously bright and does not show blacks properly. I've read all TN panels suffer from this to some degree? What would the best monitor be, budget of up to around £130, pref 21-24", good response time for gaming, 1080p, 60hz.

I'm coming from a Viewsonic VA1703WB-2 17" 1440x900 monitor and it is superb, literally has perfect colors, contrast and brightness with a crisp image.

I've done research online and apparently all TN/ICP monitors suffer from poorly distinguished blacks and high brightness to varying degrees? Why? This monitor is very old and doesn't suffer from any of this. Are monitors just going backwards in quality and technology?

Anyone have suggestions on any monitors without the bad contrast and foggy screen?

Did you set the Nvidia control panel to full rgb?, 1080p normally defaults as limited.

Nvidia control panel, change resolution under display tab, at the bottom should be `Output dyamic range`, set to Full and apply.

IMHO; yes. I have an old Dell PVA screen with zero backlight bleed, inky blacks, and putting out colours with a delta of less than 1, according to my colourimeter. Unfortunately, PVA got replaced with IPS (glow/BLB...) and VA (banding/black crush...) because both are cheaper to manufacture :(

Not to say that you can't get a good monitor still, but I don't think you can have one with your budget. If you want seriously good colour reproduction, I'd be looking at something like Dell's U2412 ( https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell...reen-led-monitor-midnight-grey-mo-052-de.html ), but it's £200.
