Hi

Im running a Viewsonic 19" screen at the moment, but as i purchased a new machine from OCUK last year i now want a screen to match the performance of the computer and WIDER lol
I now have a ATI 5970 with HDMI and play on gaming a lot of the time maybe in time id like to go SLI but thats a way off yet, so the question is???

Whats the best screen for clarity and responce time in HDMI for under £200

Thanks

Hi there,

For your budget you can either get a 24in 1080p 60Hz TN panel monitor or a 23in 1080p 60Hz E-IPS panel monitor. The TN panel one will have better pixel response times than the IPS one - so you will see less ghosting in fast-paced games on the TN. On the other hand, many people play games on these E-IPS panel monitors and find them perfectly fine - plus E-IPS panels offer superior colour accuracy and wider viewing angles compared to a TN panel - so overall the image quality is better when going for an E-IPS model.

Here is a good 60Hz 24in TN panel monitor.

Here is a good 60Hz 23in IPS panel monitor.

If you are willing to stretch you budget further then you could buy a 120Hz TN panel monitor like the BenQ XL2420T. These monitors are generally better for gaming than either of the above options due to the 120Hz refresh rate making fast motion "feel" smoother and the excellent pixel responsiveness, however they are more expensive.

As for the connections, I wouldn't restrict your choice to only HDMI models - since DVI-D offers the exact same image quality and more monitors tend to support it - so you have a greater choice of monitors.

If you can get one a LG W2363D is a nice gaming monitor too around your budget which is 120hz aswell.

The above monitors are good otherwise especially the U2312HM as the input lag is near non existant.

Got my U2312 just after Christmas and it's an excellent monitor and I am glad I picked it over the Samsung S24A350H I was looking at. I got mine for £180 including delivery.

Mine is mainly used for gaming and I have no problems with ghosting in games like L4D2, Payday and BF3.

This.

Another happy U2312 owner here, it's a great monitor.
