Best monitor with as little input lag as possible?

I think some of you guys are getting sidetracked and confusing the OP with comments related to trailing or the handling of response times on PC games when he was specifically asking for:

1) A low input lag monitor that;
2) He can use for fast-paced console games

The LG has, in practice, very low input lag and good overall image quality for the price. Don't get bogged down by the measurements as input lag varies a lot depending on situation and unless you are taking oscilloscope-based or similar measurements the accuracy of such figures is highly dubious. The 120Hz capability is nullified by your HDMI -> console connection but given the price the LG is still a good choice.

Good point, can anyone confirm whether Thru Mode works on HDMI or is it just for dual DVI?

Anyone got 3 LG's in an eyefinibadboy setup?

Pretty temptedings by that but my lack of tech knowledge limits me a bit.

Tempted by 3 of the LG 120hz screens too for eyefinity but the design of the screen - the bulge at the bottom looks like it would make it awkward to align the screens.

I will be setting them up on a racing cockpit with triple screen mount and potentially overlapping the screens slightly and angling the outer screens at 30-45 degrees.

Does anybody who has the screen have any views whether this would be possible ? At that price for 3 x 120hz screens I wouldn't be opposed to stripping the bezels off if necessary if that removed the bulge although there is clearly some electrics in there - lighting and headphone socket but I won't need that if it's removable.

Cheers

Aye, 120Hz doesn't work via the HDMI port, but the OP is trying to find out if the "thru mode" (zero input lag) works with HDMI.

I believe it should do - since it is just another on of the digital inputs into the monitor, but I can't find anywhere that confirms this.

Hopefully one of the guys who has this monitor will be able to try it out and report back.

After this talk of 120hz, i'm tempted to get the dusty HP 15" CRT out and play half life on it. or even Ghouls n Ghosts arcade version on it

I have a 10 year old CRT that will do 120Hz, it's heavy and huge, but I found things looked amazingly smooth at 100Hz+

Yep that's exactly what I'm asking I know 120Hz is only possible on HDMI 1.4 ports (or in the case of every 3d monitor out there) Dual DVI. I'm wondering about the Thru Mode which supposedly eliminates lag.

120Hz is not possible at 1080p on HDMI 1.4 either! Anyway I asked around and as we expected Thru mode works no problems under HDMI.

If you find it necessary to highlight the size of a thin and light 23" LED-backlit monitor as a problem then you are in a minority. ;)
