We're off to Majorca at the end of August, and the mosquitoes are supposed to be terrible over there this year.

Can anyone advise on a spray, plug in, band, relief cream, etc? The wife gets bitten to death at the best of times, so I'd rather be prepared now! Cheers.

Take vitamin B complex 7-10 days before you go and once you are there. To the mozzies, you will smell of Marmite which they hate.

Also use mint, tea tree shower gel. Don’t use fruit smelling toiletries - esp coconut.

As it’s your wife that gets bitten to death - try Avon’s Skin So Soft oil spray which is highly regarded as a repellent. Can buy it on Amazon if you can’t find an Avon rep.

If you do get bitten, anti histamines to get rid of the itch.

I used to get badly bitten. Now get a couple of bites if that now

To clarify, I react really badly to insect bites and the little buggers like me a lot. I'm so cautious whenever I'm outside, this is the only thing that I've found which successfully works. It lasts for ages and doesn't have a horrible smell like some of them do. The Avon stuff didn't help me at all but the spray I've linked really does work.

To give an idea, I went out a couple of weeks ago and didn't have any with me. I got one bite and this is how I reacted. As soon as I noticed it, I covered it with a plaster to stop me scratching it but it still turned out like this.

relief cream
Also, this is one of the best things I've found to actually give some kind of relief after a bite. I was given one of them when I was working on a base in Cyprus and although I don't get bitten very often (see post above), if I get unlucky, this works well to ease it. It's not cheap but it's worth it.

Thanks for the replies, I've ordered some vitamin B, pyramid trek, Autan gel, Avon skin so soft, and Autan repellant, might see us through! ;)
