Currently have a rat 5 and as much a I live the design of the mouse it's driving me mad! With my play style I lift the mouse every few seconds to reposition (I have an xl boogie board Matt so space is not the issue). I've read that the laser in the ray's re calibrate every time it's raised and I can really tell! Every time I put it back down the mouse does what it wants for a few seconds won't let me look left or right or some time up or down. It's driving me mad! I've had this play style for years and tried to change it for the sake of the mouse but I just can't seem too.
So can somebody suggest a good mouse to replace the rat 5 which doesn't suffer from this problem? I would prefer a nice looking mouse lol and preferably a thumb rest like the rat has as I have big hands. Any suggestions are great thanks in advance.

Any of the logitech gaming mice are good. The G9x is quite small but popular. I use the G700 and have used the previous models for years.

stick some Scotch tape under the laser to reduce lift-off. Worked on my DeathAdder :)

I have had my RAT5 for about 2 months and really can't get away with this mouse at all. The tracking on it is very strange indeed with a minute amount of dust on the sensor sends it haywire.

I have just put an order in for a zowie ec1 evo and will report back with my findings for you.

Well I received my Zowie this morning and it really is the best mouse I have ever used - the tracking is unbelievably smooth but I would say that you would need a decent mouse mat to get the best out of the mouse itself.

I'll try that tape fix on my rat 9...

Just used sellotape on my rat 9 and it wouldn't track properly up and down.

Would be even worse I guess with scotch tape.

Definetely doesnt work with every mouse.

I have the original Razer Mamba. Honestly can't recommend it enough, been going strong since 2010, battery still lasts a day, tracking and accuracy are superb. May be a little on the small side if you're got big mitts though.
