Well... the wifey's phone is playing up so she wants a new one.

I bought a T-Mobile Rapport - cheap and cheerful android phone (40 squids :D) but she says it's ugly and she hates touchscreens.

What do you reckon?

Moderate budget, nothing crazy (so we're not talking hundreds of pounds)

A Nokia 8210, best non touchscreen phone ever made! But in all seriousness a Blackberry is probably the answer, though it pains me to recommend one.

I may have a lookie look at the blackberrys.

Can imagine the wifey's response though 'oh they're so ugly'... dammit - I don't think there are that many decent non-touchscreen phones around nowadays!

Xperia Mini Pro perhaps? It might have a touchscreen but it also has a qwerty keyboard, my missus loves hers.

Get a portrait candybar QWERTY touchscreen phone, that was she can have buttons but gradually get used to a touchscreen.

Examples are: HTC Cha Cha, Motorola Fire, Huawei Boulder, Samsung Galaxy Pro etc. The HTC is probably the most wife-friendly imo, and specs are ok.

Lets face it, shes going to have to go touch at some point.

Yes the latest Bold is a touch screen but you don't have to use it it all as it is just like any other Bold. Although the problem with the latest Bold (9900) is that it is quite expensive and the OP said he didn't want to spend much. Maybe looking at a BlackBerry Curve would be a better idea.

Obviously the older the device the cheaper it will be. For communication I think anything OS5 or above is fine. But if you want a better multimedia experience and browse the internet a lot than I can only recommend OS7

Mind telling us why Blackberries suck?? Or are you just being a troll for the sake of it.

If the OP can get a hold of a Bold 9780 then definitely worth it otherwise the Curve range is pretty decent.

LMAO at someone suggesting the HTC ChaCha lol...Dear god if your going to get one of those, you might as well get a blackberry in all honesty.

+ 1 Blackberry, avoid the curve range Bold range is superior but more costly.

Best non touchscreen phone I use to have loved the bold 9700 for email and bbm but for everything else it sucked.

OS7 is an improvement compared to previous versions.

If she's not bothered about apps and such check out the Nokia E range as well.

Well, they do suck, but for some people they are a good choice. My ex couldn't deal with touchscreen phones and went through a succession of bad ones before getting a Bold, and she loves it.

The BB9900 is an excellent device. If you want apps, go elsewhere, but as phone used primarily for communication, there is nothing better on the market.

Thanks for the input guys.

Should be a BB vs some-kind-of-nokia argument now - the mrs only does a few calls now and then, *could* be interested in mobile internet (she has some data allowance as part of her contract) - doesn't like touchscreen phones - or ugly phones.
