Best nvidia drivers for Skyrim?

I tried the 290.53 drivers but occasionally the windows start bar locked up (like after a game or after it comes out of sleep). I had to ctrl alt delete to "unlock " it.

Thought something more serious was wrong at first but going back to the WHQL release fixed it. Just thought id throw this in there, you might not necessarily experience this :).

Well there is supposedly a good jump in performance for skyrim, but I couldn't really tell to be honest but I wasn't really having any problems running it any-ways. Sorry :P.

About the same kind of boost this would give you. :p

Constant locked 60fps no matter what I'm doing or where I am in the game. :D

Also allows you to install high res texture packs, which are kinda cool...

But before I installed that loader I was getting around 46fps minimum.

When installed the new beta drivers, 290.53, it wasn't going below 53fps.

Hope this helps. :D

Great find. That looks interesting! Sounds like something similar to -O3 switch in the gcc compiler which also inlines and uses SSEx and AVX instructions for code that would normally only compile to the x87 instruction set. If Skyrim developers really did not use something as trivial as a compiler optimization switch then that is really sad :/

Sorry but thats not 100% true is it. There are still some parts of the game that put my fps below 60, but its because the game doesn't utilise gcards properly at all -.-

290.53 are really good drivers though, especially for skyrim, but also for other recent games like BF3.

Well thats just from my experiance playing, I've never noticed my fraps monitor saying anything other than 60-62. Although I haven't really spent a lot of time playing skyrim with the loader yet, just visited some of the major cities to test the performance out. :o

The new 290.53 drivers are pretty awesome though, specially in bf3. :)

*edit* BTW Merry Christmas! :D

Sadly its one of those games where the performance dips massively in highly specific areas. Looking directly at riverwood from haben is one such example which for some reason puts FPS into the 40s on my system. Theres a similar point in markath where no matter what you put the graphics settings to, it runs sub 60 fps -.-

Merry christmas to you as well mate.

yeah i saw as low as 30 fps with my 580 sli ive recently took 1 of my 580's out and put it back in another rig and and i tried skyrim again and got nearly the same performance with 1 580..

shocking really...
