So, couldn't find a thread on this.

But after a disastrous time with a certain site I'm looking for a new place to buy some gear (and hopefully I'll have got my money back by then.)

Any suggestions for EU/UK sites with reasonable prices and a good selection?

Thanks!

Thanks everyone!!

These guys can be good: http://www.bikersgearuk.com/

However, before buying any such stuff online, you would be highly advised to find a stockist and try it on in person. Closely inspect everything and be sure it's to your liking has triple stitching, decent armour, etc.

Yup everything has been tried on except the boots (not found any SIDI MAG-1 boots anywhere) but most of the stuff I'm ordering is protective etc (back protector etc) which will fit as it's sized for my suit. Had a seat cowl also coming but now I have nothing!

Hard to find it all in one place, as I want the MAG-1 Boots, and the new alpinestars nucleon protectors. Can't find a lot of sites that have it all.

Thanks everyone, going to go through and email them to find out about shipping to Gibraltar.

There's no real need to go through all that if you don't want to. I just order a ton of stuff and send back the stuff that doesn't fit or I don't like. Distance selling regulations mean you have 14 days to get them back for a full refund although that might be a bit more hassle if you're based in Gibraltar.

DSR no longer exists so you may well be charged a fee for returns.

Sports Bike Shop have a 365 day return period and for those of us in the UK at least they provide free return postage.

I'm local enough to ride over there & have used them for just about all my gear, Even have boots up to size 16. Family run firm who make a lot of stuff themselves. I went over a few days back & bought a new set of boots.

Yeah Distance Selling Regs no longer exists but it hasn't disappeared it's been absolved into the The Consumer Contracts Regulations, so you can still return goods that you don't like for a full refund.

The only caveat is:

The seller's terms and conditions or returns policy should state who pays the cost of returning the item.
If they don't state this, then the seller has to cover the cost.
In this case, you're entitled to a refund of the total amount you paid, including costs to ship the item to you, and the fee to return the item. No admin or restocking fees should be charged.

Not Quite, check the bits in bold.

Cancelling goods
Your right to cancel Your right to cancel an order for goods starts the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive your goods.

If your order consists of multiple goods, the 14 days runs from when you get the last of the batch.

This 14 day period is the time you have to decide whether to cancel, you then have a further 14 days to actually send the goods back.

Your right to a refund
You should get a refund within 14 days of either the trader getting the goods back, or you providing evidence of having returned the goods (for example, a proof of postage receipt from the post office), whichever is the sooner.

A deduction can be made if the value of the goods has been reduced as a result of you handling the goods more than was necessary.

The extent to which a customer can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop.

Refunding the cost of delivery
The trader has to refund the basic delivery cost of getting the goods to you in the first place, so if you opted for enhanced service eg guaranteed next day, it only has to refund the basic cost.

Exemptions
There are some circumstances where the Consumer Contracts Regulations won’t give you a right to cancel.
These include, CDs, DVDs or software if you've broken the seal on the wrapping, perishable items, tailor-made or personalised items.
Also included are are goods that have been mixed inseparably with other items after delivery.
Always check the t&cs 14 days is the minimum cancellation period that consumers must be given and many sellers choose to exceed this, so always check the terms and conditions in case you have longer to change your mind.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

Got my heart set on a pair of SIDI Mag-1 Air boots and a nucleon back insert, and finding a site that does both is proving hard!

FC-MOTO were the cheapest and had it all, and would take off the VAT (I have to pay customs import duty on arrival) but had too many problems in getting it here (seem fairly common reading on other forums about them).

I'll email a few of the UK sites to see if they'll ship to Gibraltar and take off the VAT prior to shipment.

Try this lot. Its an absolute gem of a bike kit website:-

http://www.motocard.com/en/

Based in Andorra, I've ordered loads of kit from them. Quick to deliver and their prices usually trounce anything UK based retailers can offer. Recently bought a Dainese Superspeed Tex jacket from them and it was £30 cheaper than the cheapest I could pick it up for in the UK.

+10 for sportsbikeshop - I've ordered and returned 2x sets of the same gloves with them no issues - first pair were too small and 2nd pair it turned out they just didn't fit me very well. No issues at all returning them.

I had no idea the DSR had gone but as long as you still get the refund I'll still buy online. I guess I'll have to be more careful checking who pays for cost of return.

Yeah, but then I have to re-package everything, get to the post office, pay return postage... It's not worth the cost or hassle!

I suppose but for me the post office is down the road, depending on the shop the goods can be returned for free and repackaging takes minutes, way less time than getting up and going any the shop.

sportsbikeshop.co.uk.

They are great for returns if you get the wrong size jacket, etc.

They did get one of my orders wrong by putting in chain lube when I asked for chain cleaner but I suppose its an easy mistake to make.
