Best option for getting ipod /USB audio into car?

This all sounds like a bit of a faff just to avoid trailing wires. If you don't want to replace the audio unit or retrofit bluetooth to the existing system and stream from your phone or something, then just get a long 3.5mm>3.5mm cable and route it out of the back of the glovebox, under the centre console trim, to where you keep your iPod. It'll probably be easier than you think.

my car is 2 DIN, and its a bugger to get fitted, i was going to install my brothers 7" screen that has everything on, but the kit for my car is £50, so its too much hassle for that much money, hence why im not changing the stereo in my car and want an alternative

I had a mk2 Focus with a double din head unit fitted as standard, I'm guessing yours is the curved version? If so for a new fascia to fit a new head unit and the stalk adaptor to control the steering wheel controls should set you back about 40 and is actually very easy to fit!

If you decided to go the handsfree Parrot route or a 3.5mm from the back of the head unit, you can actually run the cables from your headunit down towards the passenger footwell, there is a gap so you can feed the cables, from there you can secure them underneath and keep things tidy. The glove box also comes out easily which makes things easier but I don't think you'll need to.

i think ive finally decided i dont want spend a lot, so as i already have a brodit for my specific car which i was going to use for the sat nav 2 years ago, i moved the sat nav to a better place, so i have one spare , so im going to buy what i need for my ipod touch 3rd Gen and run the wires to the aux port and wire in an extra cig socket which is all down one side, so no trailing wires across the dash (or in my way)

Just means I'll have to use my ipod to change albums rather than the car stereo

but im not sure what brodit i need, i find it all confusing, so i need some advice on this subject please all
