The job market dont give two ****s if u know windows 7 but they do if u know linux because thats whats used in the real business world
What a load of rubbish - none of my employers have used linux, and it's unlikely any of them will in the future either. It entirely depends what job market you want to get in to.
OP: Go with what suits your requirements best. I've had Windows Home Server V1, Windows Home Server V2 (Preview), Windows 2008R2 and now Windows 7 on my file server. To echo BoomAM, there's nowt wrong with W7 in a home environment. I have IIS, SQL Express, Team Foundation Server and AirVideo server installed, and have configured Windows Media Center so I can stream to any of my other non-iOS devices (like my Xbox360). There are Windows clients/servers for all the things you seem to want too.
That said, if you want some linux exposure go down that route
