Best overclocking CPU ever?

yea, there's phases involved. One year on, one year off.

Same for you then Tom.

Number crunching just does nothing for me anymore. Gaming doesn't interest me either (DX10 games may be worth a look though). I just use the pc for burning music, occasional web browsing and buying stuff. Ah well.

In that case can I have your rig please? Got an old P4 1.6 that'll do all you need you can have in exchange ;)

But for me it was my XP-m 2500 @ 3.1Ghz - (got a suicide at 3.2, but that took ages to recover from :p )

surly the pentuim d 805 has the best overclock of 100%, anyway i have had my 3700 upto 2.9ghz but saw no real performance increase over 2.8 so it stays at 2.8 24/7 my stepping is KAB3E

opteron 146. got mine at 2.8ghz.
I know its not as good as others getting 3.2 or 3.4ghz but im more than happy with an extra 800mhz thank you :)

Opty 146 @ 3.1Ghz on air.

Bored with hardware these days tbh.

Choose life!

Hmm have to admit i'm bored of pc's in general atm but then i have had the same boredom several times throughout the last 7 years.

My best is probably my current opty 144 @ 3ghz or my old xp1700+ that ran at 2.2ghz. Both on air cooling.

Another one for the oldies - my old SktA 1gb "Axia" that did 1.6ghz on air. My first entry into the OC world and still pobably the best value chip I ever had! :D

Celeron 300A has to be up there, not that I ever had one but it was amazing in its time.

My Athlon 1700+ (1466Mhz) was genious, 2.8Ghz i think I had it at on a Mach I, although water and air weren't that much lower, only a couple of 100Mhz.

P2 SL5TV unlocked with a simple pin mod P2 450+

Also had a celeronII 533 , I was one of the first to hit >1 Ghz with TEC and home made waterblock.

But overall the most bang for buck CPU was the 1700+ DL3TC.

I have to say the 1700 + DLT3C

In fact, seeing this thread made me look out the old blighter - still sitting in my garage in irs ABIT NF7S with the RAM in the slots and the Globalwin copper cooler attached.

Was thinking about setting it up as a number cruncher for old times sake but have offered the bits for sale in MM instead - we'll see if they sell. If not, will probbly fire her up again.

pentium d 920 4.8ghz 1.4v -fah stable water

died due to abuse and replaced it with a 930, which sucked.

i took my a64 2800 clawhammer (1.8ghz) for another spin the other day, does 2.65 fah stable and 2.85 cold water.

i have other oc's but im not exactly uber proud of them;

northy 3.2 maxed out on chilled liquid at 4.2, 3.8 air stable but due to age the oc is slowly comming down

my x2 4400 at 2.75 air fah stable

my handed down celeron 900 at an impressive 10mhz oc fah stable

930d at 4.2 fah stable
