Not sure about that then, seems a bit off if you send it to someone and they kill it... You get back a dead chip and you don't know what happened to it vs. doing it yourself.

He does have one of those derbauer kits though, which is probably the safest way of doing it.
Yeah I get that it might be safer but its still risky and for me personally i'd rather know how it died not just get a dead chip back and be stuck with it. Personal choice, its a risk whichever way you do it so you have to make peace with the potential loss before you do regardless...

I sent a 3770k that I picked up cheaply on the MM. It'd be a different story for a brand new £300 6700k though.
