Best Place To Build My Pc?

I would highly suggest doing a BARE bone power on.

This basically means taking everything out the case, placing it on some wood or something, and then trying it that way. Plug in JUST the power cables (the 24 pin and the 4 pin) the RAM, CPU, and video card (BE SURE that is plugged in to the PSU too) and finally, make sure that your power switch on the case is plugged in to the right jumper switches.

Just did that and now my graphics card smells like dead uh oh.

I feel sorry for you :o

I'd build it for free if I were closer. Just keep trying, don't sell it. I'm sure it's just those pesky header cables.

Why not the psu and motherboard too? The psu doesnt even boot and neither does the mobo.

For a PSU, Motherboard and Graphics Card to not work and this is your very first time building a System, most likely you havent plugged the jumpers in properly/right or done something wrong. They could be indeed all faulty but better to check first to be honest.

Take my MSN address and lets see if we can fix it for you:

Because there are many reasons why your pc won't boot, as far as we're concerned we're not even sure if you have connected the power button to the correct pins yet...

If your PSU and mobo turn out to be working fine it's gonna be very expensive for you having to pay the return postage as well.

Is there no one here near Hornchurch?.....

If i was near i'd come do it, but i don't drive and i'm miles away.

I had to take my Pc down to the purple shirts in Derby. I needed to check what component was faulty (mobo, cpu or RAM) and since this was my first 775, DDR2 motherboard i had nothing else to test the bits in so i took it down to them just to test it.

It was pretty funny and cool at the same tmie coz there i was standing in the que with people with their 'off the shelf' computers in boring, tatty cases and theres me standing there holding my big black shiny Thermaltake Tsunami case with window showing all the shiny stuff inside and everyone was like "WOAHHHHHHH". Long story short the so called "technician' said the motherboard had gone which i kind off guessed already but wanted to be sure. He handed me my pc back saying "nice case man" i was :D all the way out of the store going "yeah, this is my CUSTOM built pc, check it out  "

Btw i noticed that purple shirt world charge you 25 quid just to install RAM  Are some people that stupid that they dont know how to put RAM in a pc??

How much did it cost to get it tested?

Twas free, i reckon the guy thaught "Think this guy actually knows what a pc is, i best not charge him 80 quid then  "

But ye it was free :)

As said above, can you put the motherboard on a desk or table, with just the CPU in and 1 stick of RAM, plugged into the PSU, to see if you get a green light?

It could be something like a short against the case.

Didn't read the whole thread (sorry), but just another idea, check the fuse on the lead to the PSU

Apologies if this has already been said.

Also have you connected these leads to the mobo ??
