Hi there,

My girlfriend is after a good point and shoot camera - things I'm after are:

- Image Stabilisation
- Fast Shutter (good low-light shots)
- Fairly compact (read: not neccesarily smallest, but not Prosumer/SLR)
- At least 4x Optical Zoom (Digital Zoom = Urgh)
- Wide Angle would be desirable too
- Budget is around £150 give or take £20

I've a Nikon D80 SLR so I'm a bit out of touch of what is good in this market - I've normally only really looked at Nikon or the Canon IXUS series in the past. Anything else worth considering?

Cheers

If it's for the misses to put in her handbag and take snaps of her friends and on holiday etc then I always recomend the latest of the baby ixus cameras think it's about the 80IS at the minute? I have given different versions of this camera to both my mum and girlfriend and they love the size the looks and the ease of use. half the girls I know have one!

i have the ixus 55 and its great still. was tempting to get the 80 but decided on the slightly bulkier 590IS because of slightly wider lens and manual control.
and that's very good too at only £110
