Hi Guys,

Looking at getting one GTX 570 for my new PC build.

However been thinking i could splash a little more and get the GTX 580 instead.

However will spending that extra £100 give me an extra noticable £100 increase etc?

Also looking to get an LG 120hz 3D monitor so i know you need 120fps where possible, will the 570 give me that on most new games?

Im spending close to a grand on this new setup so looking to cut back and save where i can but for the sake of £100 extra will it make a massive difference, but tbh when you start there you could look at the 3gb 580's or the 590's even lol. Its like hernoine but less risky :P

Looking at it i dont think the MSI GTX 570 will run the newer games at 120 FPS, even on a 120hz monitor.

Question: Do 120hz monitors make a difference to the FPS or will it be the same as if it were on a 60hz monitor?

I wanna try and get ready for stuff like Skyrim, when that comes out it will be amazing in 3D with the first person effects.

Go with the 270 IMHO the difference you see in performance wont seem like £100 worth, save that towards your next card upgrade. Nvidia is probably dropping their's q1 next year, you WILL want a 2560mb variant though. Nothing under 2gb of ram is worth touching if you want a full on visual orgasm though.

Argh......

Cant decide to keep my build under £1000 and get the GTX570 with the possibility of updating later or to say screw it you only live once and get a GTX 580!?!?!?

Logic tells me my current PC is 5 years old and im running a nVidia 8800 GTS from back when nVidia used to still make all there own cards so even the GTX 570 will be an unbelievable increase in comparison lol.

Thoughts people?

I assume you meant 570 or am i missing something lol?

Can you link a card i would need for this visual orgasm :P

Because I had the money available when I did my build a few weeks back I went for the 580.

Had my financial situation been slightly more limited I would definitely have gone for a 570

I had a GTX580, great card, very powerfull and overclocks well, however i wanted to go SLI, i just couldnt justify the price of another 580, so i went with 2 GTX 570s.

IMO the 570 offers great performance for the price, my 2 570s cost just over £520 delivered and VATd, the performance is awesome, obvioulsy not as fast as 2 x 580s, but would i want to spend over £750 for 2 580s.

heh, yeah 570. Just about any high end card with 2gb should be cool, there is little gain in pre overclocked cards over stock variants and generally for a lot more cost, unless the coolers are awesome at the same time I wouldn't bother.

As for that Sapphire 6850 that was linked at it's price I would just go with a 6970. Well actually no for that price or anything over £100 I'm waiting on a 7 series card (Trust me this is HARD with no rock ETA especially with the performance of my current card!)
