Best prog for showing cpu temps ect.?

*Ahem.* What is "Temp3" in SpeedFan, exactly? It's showing as 71c for me with a flame icon, is this the chipset or something and is this safe? I am wondering if it's my X1800XT but that idles at 60c not 71c.

mine showed a ridiculous temp for temp3 the other it was at 80 C, which i thought was really odd, so i restarted and look in the bois and it said 44 which is what i normally get and when i looked on speed fan after that it said 42, so you my have to just restart and run it again cause speed fan does go a bit weird some times

What mobo?

Could be PWMIC area.
It's a Gigabyte socket 754 nForce-4 motherboard, model GA-K8NE.

I'll try rebooting like Azza suggested and check it again.

Edit: I just rebooted, it's still 71ºc. The system runs fine, so it's not worrying, but I would hate for something to go bang without warning.

That 'TEMP 3' reading I'd ignore it m8. On mine it says 15°C, while everything else in my case is in the 30's or above

Also have a look at this, second image

LMFAO @ that screenshot. :D Yeah, I think I will just disable it entirely, it must just be a non-existent temp. sensor or something that's just throwing out random numbers.
