I have terrible rural internet (3.5mb tops) and a load of house mates.

I'm the only one using Ethernet as the rest of the guys are all wireless.

Looking for a decent QOS ADSL modem/router with good wifi range for them but also strong QOS settings. Ideally I'd like to prioritize my desktop as I'm the home owner and the only gamer. Would also like to limit streaming a bit in the evenings so I can still game.

Any help appreciated!

Netduma r1 probably some of the best QOS network traffic managment ive seen.

While i was gaming usually noticed it in Dota 2 which is sensitive to lag. People using the WiFi on the ISP supplied router seemed to absolutley hammer the connection and cause my ping to rise anywhere between 500-1000ms and made the game uplayable. This is on a fibre connection

I'm assuming it was just bad Wi-Fi on the router. Anyways now with using the Netduma r1 my ping goes from around 36ms to 50 ish while people are using the Wi-Fi on the R1. Much better IMO :)

It is quite expensive though but for me i just bit the bullet as i couldn't cope with the lag. There was even a video where some one was torrenting to show how good the R1 was while in a game of CS GO and the ping didn't change to much about 20ms rise. Now thats amazing as Torrenting just destroys bandwith normally.

Heres a Video on thier website to demonstrate it.

I've never needed to use it at home, but I have noticed on a TP Link I chucked in at work that it lets you set the min/max speeds on the wifi guest network, don't call it guest and the end users are non the wiser, you can also decide if you wish to grant them LAN access which may or may not be useful. Failing that something WRT based should do it, but then you need a separate modem.
