thoughts and suggestions please on the best sims on pc

Iracing & Assetto corsa are probably the best two out there atm (in my book anyway).

Iracing - Mainly online racing, although obviously you can practice etc, it is subscription based and tracks and cars are extra. The safety rating system used in online racing take a bit to get to grips with but once you get out of the rookie classes it becomes easier.

Assetto Corsa - Currently Aplha, no multiplay atm but they have just implemented AI which is ok atm. Overall my favorite sim atm but I do tend to flit between them, but bear in mind its work in progress so not the complete package yet (tm)

Raceroom Racing Experience - Free to play, although I think you can purchase extra cars and tracks. Not got the best reviews but its fun for a quick blast, and its FREE :)

Rfactor and Projectcars - Not played either so cant really comment.

Overall I dont think you can go far wrong with Iracing or Assetto Corsa, if you want to race against others in leagues then Iracing will probably suit you more.

current best in order

assetto cars best at moment
iracing next
project cars after

try rbr for best rally sim .

I see you post about RBR rally all the time and every time I see it I think I must give it a go.....not even sure they have it on steam

If you think iRacing is difficult you really need to try RBR. Without doubt the most demanding simulator you will play by quite some margin too. I'm quite adept at racing simulators but this one is still kicking my backside and this is like 10 years later!

if you have a bad back dont play it :D

session on rbr and you come off sweating like a beast and worn out :p

many dont give it chance but if you learn it like many other hard core sims you get the reward.

its about 5 quid off ebay or 7 quid digital download.

Right im going to get it, if its rubbish Im gonna hunt DG down in Electro and force feed you my helmet :eek:

Iracing is the best sim at the moment, especially with the new tyre model on most of the cars now. But it's expensive and online only.

Assetto Corsa has superb FFB and physics, as well as great visuals. It's still in alpha and there's not a massive amount of game there at the moment. Just time trials and AI races against AI that's not complete.

PCARS doesn't come into the equation, because you can't play it unless you have access to a tool pack. It also is still in alpha development, my problem with it now is they are still changing the FFB, handling and physics of the game. They really need to make a decision I what they are going with and stick with it, then concentrate on completing the project into an actual game.

Haven't played rFactor 2, the first game was good, but needed a lot of effort to get tracks and cars working.

Race 07 and the expansions are still very playable, but are showing there age now.

Steer clear of any of Codemasters' F1 games.

Asetto Corsa certainly has potential, but it's not better than iRacing for realism.

If it's pure sim you're after then iRacing really is the only choice.

Am well pleased to see RBR still get a mention up there with the best of them. Still got my copy & I'll never let it go. It is without doubt the most demanding driver I have ever played, Being so demanding the rewards for success are Massive. Just improving your time in a sector is hard enough let alone finishing a rally event in a decent place so when you do you buzz your **** off.
It is also the only driver that has physically hurt me when playing :p Crash badly in the trees & you will groan just like your co driver as the wheel smashes your hand to bits. :D

Game is beyond Epic & Big up & R.I.P to Richard Burns Legendary English Rally driver.

Installed RBR and the RSRBR 2014 (google it) addon pack from some French site.

Loads of new/improved tracks, cars and GFX.

Also install the 'fixup' plugin that fixes loads of issues with the old game.

Cracking rally game much better than the WRC games I have played.
