best recent assasins creed game ?

What would people suggest for someone who hasn't played any of the AC games?

Always fancied them but have never bothered as I didn't play the original. Guessing I can still pick things up without going back to that? Is there a good fairly recent place to get started? I realise games aren't all about graphics but still don't really want to go back to very dated stuff.
 
I tried that and went right back to the start but the graphics were so bad I ended up giving in, I started rogue i thought it was a good start point but felt I was missing what happened before so maybe they the game before that? Probably get origins as well just for the good price.
 
I never felt connected with the story in Odyssey there are two sides but you end up with no allegiance to either instead you just wipe all the bases out regardless, technically it's a great game and huge (though a bit cut-n-paste), but I felt more connected with the story and characters in Origins, so enjoyed Origins more.
 
I picked up Origins at the start of the month in the Humble Monthly bundle, and I've not played anything else really since. Such a great world to explore, and I felt like I was part of an adventure - I keep getting side tracked with little quests.

Before that, I loved Black Flag as well.

Thanks, I was worried that might be the case. Really can't be going back that far, maybe one day they'll remake the original.
 
I see they have just remastered 2 I think I read? But it’s coming in at about £30/£40 where I seen it

They just remastered number 3. Number 2 is the ezio trilogy (2, brotherhood and revelation) number 3 is solid but not great imo in the grand scheme of main game series.
 
They have done it well. I watched the video on uplay website of both side by side and what a difference.
 
I prefer Origins over Odyssey for setting and Odyssey is very... Samey. And Origins is nowhere near as repetitive as AC:O.

So my vote is AC Origins
