I'd go for the Focus Varido Expert as it's great with Shimano 105 groupset. I got one in 2008.

Just change the damn tyres as the ones that come with it are as thin as paper...

The Boardman bikes are supposed to be very good VFM & are getting great reviews - only available through bikehut however :(

http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ also do some nice frames and let you spec up your own package - the 7005SL Road Bike is well regarded (waiting for my Cyclescheame voucher to get one kitted out with Campagnolo Veloce groupset atm :))

Agree with the above TBH. You could get a LOT of decent second hand bike for your money. Just make sure you know enough to check the equipment etc, and make sure you have all documentation.

2010 bike prices are awful, so if it's gotta be new, find a 2009/2008 model. Also consider increasing your budget slightly, can get a well kitted Planet X for £900 with Ultegra SL, or see if your employer does cyclescheme or equivalent.

On a nother note, the Planet X £1500 build with DA 7900 is an absolute bargain, as is the DA 7900 grupo for less than £900! I have nearly hit buy several times.

As someone who has used a variety of Shimano and Campag groupsets, I wouldn't go for anything below 105/Veloce personally.
