I'm looking for a decent (and free :p) RSS Reader and the options available seem bewildering. I thought someone on OCuk might have a recommendation. :)

What I'm after is the following features:

- Auto-starts with Windows and sits in the system tray
- Checks the feeds regularly (5 minutes ideally, 15 minutes maximum)
- Pops up with a speech bubble showing the latest entry (/entries) if there's something new
- Alternatively, something that I can add to the taskbar and displays the latest headline.

Any ideas?

I used to rely on NewsGator i think it was, in fact i can't even remember properly (i'll have a mooch around to see), it was was good, but i've since migrated Google Reader, and tbh i've not really used much better. You can get a notifier for your taskbar if you wish. Its platform independent, and its not fixed to one PC, meaning i can catch up in work, in uni, on my phone if i'm bored on the train. For portability (not sure if you're worried) there isn't much better than google reader. Also searching and finding new feeds through it is really easy too :)

//Edit: I used Feed Daemon for a bit, and its Newspaper layout was cool if you wanted to catch up on everything quick :) I did definitely use something else after Feed Daemon but i can't find it nor even remotely remember the name, but it was News Gator as i mentioned above...

Klipfolio is a cracking little program. I've been using it for ages now. Totally free and uses next to nothing in resources as far as I can tell.

I'm using it for at least 9 different feeds, several email "klips" checking various email accounts and also checking podcasts. :)
