Best sat nav at the moment?

Hi there, I got my new company car today and sat nav was meant to be an option but was forgot when the boss spec'ed the car. He has since said buy the best sat nav I can and claim the money back. So OCUK what is the best sat nav I can get at the moment?

Tom tom or garmin or something like that?

Tom tom all the way. I own a tom tom, but use garmin ones at work, and there is no comparison between the two for me

Tom Tom , I use the one on my iPhone over the one on board in the car. Guess I'm used to it

Ahh that sums that then, I was looking at garmins and tom tom, I will get a tom tom!

My tom tom is nearly 10 years old. It has never let me down once, and the maps are more accurate than the garmin ones

Another vote for TomTom. Got the old man a TomTom Go Live 820 which seems pretty good, personally though I just use the iPhone app.

If you have an iPhone then the app is good value for money, I've had it years and never had to pay for map updates. Plus the Live services (e.g. Traffic) are available individually and on either annual or monthly basis, making them cheaper than having to pay a full year of everything like you do with the standalone devices.

If he's paying get a TomTom 1005 (Europe or world as they are pretty much the same thing)

The live updates for Traffic are actually really useful.
