Best savings account?

I will add I've actually just opened a natwest current account to make use of the regular saver. If interest rates stay same over the mid term it's regular saver is a bit unique.

Its only 150 a month max deposit. But.. It doesn't reset every year. You can save over time up to 5k.
It's over 6pc interest at the moment.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

About 2.5 years of saving would net you the max balance.
Only 3pc over a year tho

I have the RBS equivalent, with the full 5K in it. I abused double roundups on the debit card to get an extra £100-150 in a month.

It's good cause it pays out more per month than any other account could with 5K and I can actually spend it. But it's bad cause that 5K is locked in as it's too good to spend.

I also have the natwest one which I am letting grow with £150pm and interest only.

Question for people who use T212..

I currently have a Cash ISA with them and a savings account elsewhere... Next April I want to buy into some ETFs.

I like the way you can build your own pie, say for example I could have an s&p500 etf, and emerging market etf, and maybe 2 more, each split 25% of the money.

Question is can you do this within an ISA wrapper?

I know if I look on vanguards website, some of their etf are "ISA ready ' but I don't want just s&p500 for example.. I want to spread my exposure a bit with some other ETFs that aren't so heavily weighted toward USA & Tech sectors.

Is there a way to do this within an s&s ISA?

Yes, you just open a S&S ISA and then select what you want, which is pretty much all stocks and shares based investments allowed within the UK ISA wrapper.
You can buy eg Vanguard ETFs within a T212 S&S ISA and use pies if you want to.

Thanks... That's good to hear... The T212 app is a bit confusing though.. For example I've built a test pie with 4 funds in it... But it's not clear if that's within an ISA or?

Maybe I have to switch to real money? I've gone through the motions with a test pie and it seems I can switch my test pie to an s&s isa...or a cash ISA Is it as simple as that?

It's quite confusing if you have to commit money before you've chosen your preferable ETFs and weighted them as a percentage within an ISA.

I have a T212 cash isa, considering throwing another chunk in but I like having a decent amount in my standard account...how hard is it to withdraw from T212 as I've read a few bad reviews...

Some people have to wait the up to three days they quote, I've never waited more than 3 minutes

I don't use the app, but on the web you have a choice in the top left, Cash Isa/S&S Isa/Invest Account

You don't have to use pies, you can just do them individually.
Only real advantage to pies I think is if your depositing frequently, or you want to auto balance
I guess if you want lots of shares into a ETF copy type scenario they also work.

I just buy and sell the ETFs and individual shares on their own

@HungryHippos I know uses the pies though so he is probably better placed to give you any tips on them individually

Good to hear, I am a bit gutted they dropped the rate about 4 weeks after I joined, then changed the daily interest to weekly or whatever... although I was a bit obsessed watching the interest go up daily

That's not really a concern for me... I don't need instant withdrawal as I have regular savings and current accounts for that.. It's more an investment savings account so my money will likely be untouched for years at a time unless there's an exceptional circumstance.

You don't have one

In the app if you go to documents, and then statements, you get an email with an 'account number'.

It doesn't have a sort code though... And the account number is too short to be an IBAN.

So it's all a bit confusing.

I'm pretty peed of with the lack of transparency.. Chip was the same.. Very difficult to to find out.

You either use openbanking/truelayer for withdrawals and deposits or use their generic account number and sort with your unique reference

I want to send money from my Chase Account directly to it. I could send it to my Barclays first and then use the T212 app to deposit from Barclays (which is what is linked to). But didn't want that extra step.

Then use the other method, it's how I move money between Chase and T212
