Fraps work's fine if you set it up right

U Need

Two Hard Drives as the game is being loaded on one and then fraps can be saving to the other.

Turn off things like AA in some of my test's it seems to make games lag when trying to record with it on in some games but not all.

I have no problems recording with fraps as long as I follow these rules even on a single core p4 3.0ghz with win XP =] not my main pc just one I set to play old games

MSI afterburner works great for me.

I was recording my last few vids at 30 FPS and 75% quality, but it made gameplay a little too choppy and blurred the video quality too much (didnt really need the recordings reduced in quality as movie maker does that without sacrificing as much quality as Afterburners compression does).

So I increased the video quality to 100%, and the FPS to 35, and it records 100% smoothly in full quality without any choppy-ness ingame :)

Is there anything you need to do to set up AB to capture video though? It refuses to do anything for me, what am I missing? I assign the hotkey, have AB running in the background, hit the capture key but nothing is ever recorded.

I've tested out about 5 different programs lately, and Dxtory comes out on top due to it's ability to record over several hard drives in RawCap mode, which means I get less of an FPS drop in comparison to all the others.

Dxtory > Fraps
