Best setup of hard drives

Ive been told that it is better to get a small memory harddrive say around the 80gb mark and then a storage harddrive.

So i install and run the OS on the smaller drive and then install all software such as games and files onto the storage drive.

Would this be a good setup?

I store my data on seperate drives to my programs so I can easily reformat windows if anything goes wrong and not lose my data.
Probably more to it but i like it.

Aye, I use 3 drives - one for the OS, one for Apps and one for files/storage. Probably overkill but I like it
