That's right! I just upgraded my B3 to a G0 and wow!

I thought either my RAM or Mobo (4x1GB of XMS2 6400 C5 and Asus P5KC) were the bottleneck as I could not get stable beyond 2.7GHz and even at 2.61GHz idle the temps were in the 50 degrees region per core according to coretemp and latest Speedfan!

Now though I installed the G0 and whacked it right up to 1333fsb to get 3GHz and the temps are simply astonishing when comparing idle for idle and the overclock difference (2.6 vs 3.0)

I won't be buying one of the new Quads anytime this year /at all/ now and will sell the B3 on eBay or something making the G0 at most only a £50 upgrade :D

Here's the readout atm:

Now my 8800GT can breathe!

You could run a quick blast of Prime95 to see roughly where the max temp is, as it seems to get there quite fast then hover around it.

yeah I have a B3 and it's running 70C folding and that's with both CPU and heatsink lapped. The temp shoot upto 80C when running prime and that's at 1.46V.

Well right after 3dmark06 run temps were:

That's lower than what the B3 was IDLE!!!

Edit*

Crysis has a more fluid framerate now too!

Hi, could you possibly post the exact settings you used to achieve this? Vcore etc? Plus the RAM settings?, etc?

Cheers.

Aye it's on very high settings but using the natural colours mod which makes the gfx look even better and game run faster,

In DX9 mode it looks just as good!

Of course if you start blowing everything up in one go it crawls as expected but play normally and it's fine :)

I'm now at 3.1GHz, the temps have gone up...virtually no degrees and I am confident 3.4 is easily achievable but will need to play tonight. For 24/7 use though 3.1 should do me fine!

4ghz on air? maybe!!!!

that is a bargain i suppose :)

I'm making it my mission now to have my g0 ' 3.33 now as I won't rest until it is!

Mine overheats to 70C at 3.4ghz with the best air cooling i could find, even water would drop it to maybe 60C. It's %&$%ed!

Damn that's hot :O is there variations of G0 then ? like SLACR G0 and normal G0 ?

Mine idles at about 40-44 per core or less and under load is no more than 55 per core (in Crysis) and an overall of 45-50 !

Will try 3.33 tonight when I get home :D

I'm on a Freezer 7 Pro with AS5 btw and noticed the temps from load to idle drop very fast which i guess is the AS5 doing its job! - all with the cpu fan at 50% speed btw!
