Best Singler Player Stealth Game?

meh never really got in to the thief games.. they were all good and i was enjoyng bein a uber leet ninja killing people from the shadows, but then some zombie things appeared and the whole stealth thing went right out the window and i couldn't be arsed any more

i liked the splinter cell games.. as long as u do try and use stealth, but in a couple of points i did have to kill everyone.. so need to try harder on the next one :)

Im talking about before the ppl even appeared, it was a great use of music to set up a lot of tension espically when nothing much happens for the 1st part.

That is quite true, there are only a couple of games that just felt creepy like that

Metal Gear Solid 2, sombody get's possesed by the severed arm of someone else's arm in Metal Gear Solid. Both insane, a terrible plot/tension killer and hilarious all at once. :D
dont forget about the la-li-la-li-loo-lai-lo ... or however the hell is spelt :p

It would be worth keeping an eye out for "The Call of Cthulhu : Dark Corners of the Earth" which is released on PC in a couple of weeks. There is a fair proportion of stealth involved in that.

Personally I don't like the Splintercell series, I've completed PT and played a few levels of the original, and it just doesn't grab me and becomes very frustrating in places. I think maybe it just has a bit too much emphasis on stealth for my liking, and the pace is a bit slow. When you think about it, slowing the game down that much is almost a way of being able to get away with relatively small/few levels.

I much prefer more balanced games like Riddick or NOLF2. They have stealthy elements in places but also have some faster-paced action sections, moments of humour and a good storyline. Likewise the Deus Ex games are good in that it's down to the player how stealthy you want to be.

I forgot about the NOLF games, i have played through both using only stealth, never get spotted, only use headshots and one shot kills. Much more fun than run and gun.

Thief: The deadly Shadows is excellent. If you get it, look out for the level called The Cradle. Arguably the best designed level in any PC game ever
