Sorry for the really boring thread but... yes, you can guess what the problem is. Lots of organic matter down sink which won't go away. I used a whole bottle of the Domestos Sink Unclogger which got rid of 90% of the standing water but there's still some left.. so it's obviously still blocked. I need to buy some more... anyone got any ideas on other ones?

What you need is good old fashioned technology. A plunger! If that does not shift it get a plumber in as you are going to manually have to scoop all that stuff out. Beware drains stink to high heaven, so do this before eating.

Why not just unscrew the U bend and clear it out?

Probably not a good idea: there's still some of the old unblocking fluid in the bend which I can't wash away, and that stuff's very corrosive. Therefore a plunger would also be a bad idea. So I'll get a different brand and hope that'll do the work on the remaining stuff.

it wont damage you, just put a bowl under it and catch the waste. If you're really worried wear some rubber gloves.

You should just do it the old fashioned manual way, putting these types of unblocking chemicals down the drain is really bad for the environment. You need to be carefull mixing different types as well incase they react and give off dangerous fumes !

Old type net curtain wire, bendy and strong used it before as a last resort before taking u bend off, its good to push out gunge leave the hook or loop on the end if you can get it through the plug hole as it shifts the block quicker.
