best socket A mobo to overclock 2500-m

If your going to use it for clocking and benching(and bragging rites :D )then 2x256 will get you higher fsb's than 2x512. But if you are going to use it to do stuff with, then 2x512 would be better.

lol it is just for a laugh really but also braggin rights if i ever manage it :)

though after that, maybe just used as a spare.

2x256 it is then :)

Here you go Str.

I got a similar time, 38.953 at 2662mhz with cas 3 memory
Sempron are taking this terrority over now and I hope my 805 will also produce similar results ( for the price) x2 of course :)

Oh yes  Screenshot with 1meg s/pi and cpuz should'nt be a problem then, should it?

Another vote for the NF7-s ver 2 here - awesome board and a great stable platform for some excellent overclocking. I know there was a lot of hype about huge FSB's on Socket A's and bandwidth being life but I'll stand by my results!

35.828 (Mach 1 not 2 :p )

Finally topped out at just over 3.2Ghz as well (no where near stable, but not bad for a suicide shot!)

The Dfi's are capable of seing in excess of 270 with the right modding - is it worth it ... meh - I'll take my NF7 with a Manta XT bios any day :D

(Too bad on the timing - I sold both my beloved IQYHA's not 2 days ago on the MM - a real shame!)

ah dude, id have whiped that cpu out ya hands straight away :(

ah well, think i may have sourced a dfi mobo though :)

EDIt: looks to be a revA and not a B but im sure it should still clock well?? the original owner says he had it to 240mhz so all good :)

Unless you have parted with the folding stuff, i would hold out for a Rev-B. The A's have not got as good bios support as the B's and they don't clock as well or as stable as the B's. Vdimm mod should be the same.

i havnt parted with anythin yet. still mulling it over.

my hold out for a rev-b then... :(

EDIT: it seems that the board is an infinity. seems the infinity has the same layour as th erev-B so all the volt mods would be the same accordin to techPowerUp's article

If it's an Infinity then go with it then. The only diff between an Infinity and a Lanparty-B is gigabyte lan and onboard power switching, everything else is the same.

onboard power switching as in the 2 little switches on the mobo to restart and poweron/off the mobo?? meh, no big loss there even though they could be handy and not that fussed on gigabit lan as my router only supports upto 100mbps anyway :)

put my name on the board anyway. £35 inc aint to bad, plus im gettin a spare bios with it :) bargin!

The spare bios is a god-send - but unless you get a bios saviour you'll still be hot flashing whenever it goes wrong (I *really* hate having to do that!) I still think it's worth the extra £20 to get the Bios Saviour, especially if you're really aiming to max out the kit! ;)

lol thats what i thought.

yeah ive been lookin into the bios saviour yesterday, i think it's gonna be best to invest in one. £20 aint that much if it saves me the hassle of hotflashing etc, plus its safer!

I lost track of the number of times I had to hot flash my NF7 using my Asus - nothing quite like prying out the bios chip using a DFI SLi-jumper clamp-thingie to get the old heart going - great fun though - seldom can you destroy so many boards in one easy job

I cursed myself everytime for not buying the saviour!

DFI LANPARTY NF2 ULTRA-B

/end thread.

Totally agree. Had one of these running my XP2500+ at XP3200 speeds. Limited by poor DDR400 memory - Kingston HyperX that wouldn't clock higher than around 210mhz :(

Fantastic board. If DFI would make decent Intel boards again, I'd buy em instead of Asus!
