best software for converting avi to dvd. best software for burning them also please!

as title suggests really, need to convert some div x and xvids to dvd and durn them as a dvd. just wondering whats the gest software to do this? cheers!

I always use WinAVI, but it isn't free.

convertxtodvd is always reccomended around here though, and is.

Me too, its great, i used winavi before but the video and sound would go out of sync useing it so i changed to this one and its fine

The "best" would be:

TMPGEnc 4 XPress, xvid/divx->mpeg2 (etc)

TMPGEnc DVD Author 3.0, mpeg2->DVD Video files (with menues etc)

Prassi ONES, to burn DVD Video files onto blank DVD media

However, a few "cheaper" options, would be WinAVI, ConvertxtoDVD, etc.

I have tried a lot of programs to do the job and nearly everyone recommended by folk here. I have to say, a lot of tripe has been recommended on here such as WinAVI, DVD Santa and so forth. There is always some fault like audio out of sync or some other stupid thing.

However, there is one program which is a gem and has worked successfully 100% of the time and I mean its going most days of the week. That program is ConvertXtoDvd and its money well spent. No fancy UI, its simple and does a hell of a job.

Get it.

Generally most of the software has built in Burning utilities, which is best is a matter of opinion, but the built in should do the same job. ConvertXtoDvd has built in burning and is good, although doesnt give you an option to burn more than once. I still opt for Nero as a good burning tool, although as rule of thumb, burn media this way should be at 8x and below for best results.
